We clicked "Compact messages" in Outlook Express and the last 6 months of messages disappeared!  Any ideas as to why, where they might be, and how they can be recovered?
We looked in "Deleted items" and they were not there. We also "restored" the "Recycling Bin" and likewise didn't see them return.5 people need an answerI do too

I managed to restore my lost emails but lost the most recent emails downloaded just before the restore. Do you know where they have gone please?

If you deleted the newer inbox, then you deleted them. You should have restored the bak file as a different folder then the inbox for that reason and also because it is likely to get corrupted again if it has a large file size and lots of messages. You can look in the message store to see if there is a variation on the inbox.dbx file (e.g. inbox (1).dbx) or somesuch and check the file date. It might contain the newer messages but I think you overwrote them. steve <BlackIsleBrew> wrote in message news:Email removed for privacy...I managed to restore my lost emails but lost the most recent emails downloaded just before the restore.
